KARACHI (Dunya News) – Four babies on incubator in the National Institute of Child Health (NICH) died due to electricity outages on Saturday.

According to sources, the babies died due to lack of sufficient oxygen because of electricity outages.

Spokesperson of the electric supply company has said that it could be a matter of internal circuit problem of the hospital as the electricity supply was not cut-off from the main source and that the hospital administration has also attested this.

NICH Director Jamal Raza has said that only a section of the hospital lost its power supply and that it has nothing to do with the NICH nursery. He further said that immensely sick infants do die.

However, Sindh Minister for Health Dr Sagheer Ahmed has taken notice of babies’ death in the NICH.
