LAHORE (Dunya News) – Former president Asif Ali Zardari on Friday met Jamaat Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq and exchanged views over the ongoing political situation, Dunya News reported.
According to the details, Zardari met the JI chief at Mansoora Lahore where both leaders exchanged views over the ongoing political situation in the country.
Addressing the media after the meeting, former president Zardari said that “we have to think about Pakistan because the times are changing, the world is changing and the countries are developing a new identity.”
He said the neighbouring countries have strengthened like never before.
PPP co-chairman said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) only has one agenda which is to unite all political forces. He vowed to meet all political figures of Pakistan “so that no one could harm Pakistan”.
Zardari feared that some ‘devil’ could take advantage of the in-fight of the politicians. He said East Pakistan was separated because of ‘our weaknesses’.
He said the only way to save Pakistan is if all political forces work together.
JI chief Sirajul Haq said that it’s been 32 years since any PPP leader has visited Mansoora, adding that Zardari wishes for a solution of the political crisis.
Jamaat chief said that PPP always worked for the betterment and welfare of the country and that it played a crucial role in political Jirga as well.
Sirajul Haq said that safeguarding democracy is everyone’s responsibility. He said it is high time that the politicians adopted the new democratic culture after giving up the attitudes of the past.
