ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Defense Khawaja Asif said on Tuesday that the imposition of Article 245 has nothing to do with the opposition’s activities scheduled for August 14, adding that the situation will be dealt with politically, Dunya News reported.
Addressing media outside parliament house, Defense Minister said that the army has been summoned to deal with the possible fallout of operation Zarb-e-Azb and not for political purpose.
He said that calling army to takeover Islamabad’s security was being reviewed ever since the military operation against terrorists began in North Waziristan, adding that the delay to call the army is being linked to the PTI’s protest march.
He reiterated the government’s stance saying the imposition of Article 245 has nothing to do with August 14, adding that the political matters should be dealt politically.
Asif said that the parliament is the embodiment of people’s wishes and that parliament’s opinion regarding imposition of Article 245 will be respected.
Defense Minister said that there is no tension between the government and the army. He said that the decision to allow Musharraf to travel abroad is for the court to take and not the government.
