Altaf undergoes medical checkup at London's Wellington Hospital
The MQM leader is likely to remain hospitalized for another night due to high blood sugar.
LONDON (Dunya News) - Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain underwent medical checkup at London’s Wellington Hospital on Wednesday.
The medical test showed high blood sugar and the medicines were provided to Altaf’ Hussain to control blood sugar level.
According to doctors, Altaf Hussain was unable to appear for interview to police due to his health condition.
The MQM leader is expected to remain hospitalizes for another night.
According to London Metropolitan Police, Altaf Hussain will also remain under police custody during his stay at hospital for treatment.
Earlier, Pakistani High Commission in London contacted British Foreign Ministry and asked for access to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain as he is also citizen of Pakistan.
According to Foreign Office, Pakistan High Commission also sought details of the case against the MQM chief. The foreign office added that all possible legal assistance would be provided to Altaf Hussain.
Meanwhile, London Police asked to nominate three persons to visit Altaf Hussain.
Moreover, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan held telephonic conversation Khan Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad and inquired about the health of Altaf Hussain.
The PM also prayed for early recovery of MQM Chief and asked the Governor to keep him informed about the development Altaf Hussain s case.
Nawaz Sharif said MQM Chief Altaf Hussain is a Pakistani citizen and the government will provide all possible legal assistance to him.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said the federal government will remain in touch with Governor Sindh regarding the case.
On the other hand, MQM supporters continue to hold sit-ins in various cities including Karachi and Hyderabad against the arrest of Altaf Hussain.
MQM chief Altaf Hussain was arrested in London on Tuesday in connection with the money-laundering case.
Metropolitan Police of London had started money laundering probe against Altaf Hussain after they recovered some money from his house, whose source could not be ascertained
During the investigation of Imran Farooq murder case the Scotland Yard had found 0.4 million pound sterling from Altaf Husaain s house following which it spread its scope of investigation.
