Summary Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf said Imran Khan cannot become part of Taliban committee
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Following the announcement of banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) over the formation of a five-member committee to hold talks with the government, several political parties have convened party sessions on Monday while PM Nawaz will chair a session over the recent developments in dialogue process.
The TTP formally announced Sunday a five-member committee including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Chief Imran Khan, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam- Sami (JUI-S) chief Maulana Samiul Haq, Mufti Kifayatullah of JUI-F, Maulana Abdul Aziz and Professor Ibrahim of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) to negotiate with the government. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan also announced a 10-member political shura under the supervision of Qari Shakil.
In the backdrop of TTP s announcement, PM Nawaz summoned a session to discuss the future course of action to further dialogue process and to review the recent developments in this regard.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan termed the announcement of negotiating team by Taliban a positive development. In a statement on Sunday‚ he said the committee‚ announced by the government‚ has been given full mandate and authority to hold dialogue.
Meanwhile, Maulana Samiul Haq, Senator professor Ibrahim and Maulana Abdul Aziz agreed to become part of Taliban committee.
However, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf said Imran Khan cannot become part of Taliban committee, saying that the TTP should see Imran’s role on national level.
The PTI chief has convened a core committee meeting to review banned TTP offer today. Sources said the executive members would give their opinion over the issue. The political impact to be part of Taliban’s committee will also come under the discussion in the meeting.
Meanwhile, JUI-F also called an emergency meeting today (Monday) to discuss Taliban dialogue process.
JUI-S chief Maulana Sami-ul-Haq called an emergency meeting of his party in wake of dialogue between Taliban and government.
Jamat-e-Islami also called urgent meeting after Taliban’s nominations for dialogue with the government.
JI’s professor Ibrahim said the meeting of concerned parties whom leaders have been nominated by the Taliban would held in next two days. He said they are contacting JUI-S, JUI-F, PTI and Lal Masjid cleric Abdul Aziz to discuss Taliban’s offer.
