Summary Bilawal, 25, said he was considering standing in elections due in 2018.
KARACHI (Web Desk) - Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has called on the government to take military action against militant groups.
Politicians must "wake up" to the threat posed by armed groups such as the Taliban, Bilawal said during an interview with BBC.
His comments came a day after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired a meeting of PML-N parliamentarians to review Tehreek-e-Taliban’s dialogue offer.
Bilawal said that government had exhausted the option of talks with militants and that military action was now needed.
“I want to... make sure we are a peaceful, prosperous and progressive nation that my mother (Benazir Bhutto) dreamed of,” he added.
He further said that "dialogue is always an option but we have to have a position of strength.”
"How do you talk from a position of strength? You have to beat them on the battlefield. They re fighting us."
Earlier on Monday, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar said that national consensus is prerequisite for the success of dialogue with or military operation against militants.
The Minister said in the first phase‚ consultations will be held with intelligence agencies and parliamentary leadership followed by national political leadership. He said both dialogue and military operation are not easy as there is no formal party on the other side.
Last week, the two high-profile attacks left at least 39 dead, marking a bloody return for the militants after a period of relative quiet following Mehsud s death and the appointment of Maulana Fazlullah as TTP chief.
