LAHORE (Web Desk) - Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Syed Munawar Hasan has said that IMF’s “satisfactory” report about Pakistan government’s economic performance was an indication that more taxes and a fresh wave of price hike were in the offing.
In a statement here on Saturday, Munawar said that in fact, the IMF had appreciated the heavy taxes levied by the PML (N) government. It was a pat on the back of the rulers who had agreed to suck the blood of the masses only to fulfill IMF terms and also to meet increasing expenses of the ruling elite, he added.
He said the rulers enjoying luxurious living had sold out the nation’s independence to Zionist controlled financial bodies and were overjoyed over the bargain.
Syed Munawar Hasan said the PML (N) leadership that had been promising breaking the begging bowl had obtained loans on most humiliating terms. The prices of POL and the electricity tariff were being determined by the IMF due to which the price of each and everything had risen at an alarming rate.
Despite Pakistan being an agricultural country, the prices of vegetables and pulses had gone sky high and the poor were forced to commit suicides.
Criticizing the government plans for privatization of major state institutions, Syed Munawar Hasan said that the rulers’ assurances of transparency and also of raising the foreign reserves to 20 billion dollars would prove hollow like heir slogan of breaking the begging bowl. He however declared that the masses won’t allow the rulers to sell out these institutions on throw away prices.
The JI Ameer also made it clear to the masses that if they simply kept on feeling sorry for on their miserably plight and swallowed the oppressive steps of the rulers while sitting at their homes, their worries won’t end. Therefore, they would have to come of roads against the oppressive policies of the rulers.
He also urged the religious and political parties to rise above their petty differences and forge unity in their ranks in order to save the country from the clutches of Islam’s enemies.
