Summary
The selection of jury for hearing of Dr. Aafias case in US courtroom has been finalised. A Manhattan judge had removed Dr. Aafia Siddiqui on Thursday after she interrupted questioning of potential jurors about the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. She told them she had nothing to do with 9/11 and also suggested that Israel was behind the attacks but insisted she is not an anti-Semite. Dr. Aafia said that she will continue her boycott from the trial until a neutral jury without any Jew member will be formed. She is accused of picking up an M-4 Army rifle and firing two rounds at a team of Americans who tried to question her in Afghanistans Ghazni province on July 18, 2008. None of them were hit, but she was shot in the stomach and was hospitalised. Prosecutors say she was arrested and brought to US authorities by Afghan national police after showing suspicious behaviour. She was shot and wounded in response, according the US version of events. The courtroom has selected a 12 member jury for hearing of the case which includes 7 women. Next hearing will be held during the coming week.
