Security beefed up countrywide on New Years Eve

The entire world is welcoming the New Year cheerfully and with positive hopes. Security has been beefed up across the country on New Years Eve to avoid unwanted incidents.The government has not organized a major official ceremony on New Years night in the wake of recent spate of terrorism in the country respecting the holy month of Muharram. However, individuals have organized various ceremonies in guest houses, homes and hotels. Law enforcement agencies have deployed special contingents to maintain law and order. Around 1516 traffic wardens and 9 special squads along with 15,000 policemen will perform their duties on the occasion in Lahore. Additional contingents of police have been deployed in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
