Pakistan committed to promote peace in Afghanistan: PM

Summary Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif met US Ambassador Richard Oslon in Islamabad.

 

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has affirmed his commitment to a strong and cooperative relationship with the United States in a meeting with US Ambassador Richard Olson today (Friday) in Islamabad.

 

The meeting was held in advance for the visit of US Secretary of State John F. Kerry who is likely to visit Pakistan in the coming two days.

 

The Prime Minister also reiterated Pakistan s full commitment to all initiatives designed to promote peace and stability in Afghanistan and informed the Ambassador of the recent visit of his Advisor on National Security and Foreign Affairs to Kabul.

 

He conveyed to Ambassador Olson that he looked forward to receive Secretary Kerry and in addition to sharing views on the present state of the relationship‚ also wanted to share a vision of bilateral relations in the future.

 

Ambassador Olson shared with the Prime Minister about US priorities relating to the visit of John Kerry and also took the opportunity to brief on Pakistan-US relations and the regional situation.
