President summons NA session on June 1

Speaker Fehmida Mirza will administer oath to the newly elected members of the House.


ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - President Asif Ali Zardari has summoned first session of the 14th National Assembly to meet on Saturday at 10 am in the Parliament House Islamabad.


Spokesperson Senator Farhatullah Babar said that President signed the summary sent in this regard by the caretaker Prime Minister.


The session of the National Assembly will be a beginning of transition of power to the new government through democratic process for the first time in national history.


In the first session‚ outgoing speaker Dr Fahmida Mirza will administer the oath to the newly elected members. Later on‚ members will sign register of the Assembly.


The Speaker will announce schedule for the election of new Speaker and Deputy Speaker which will be held on Monday.


PML-N which is the single largest party in the House has not yet finalized the names of the candidates for Speaker and Deputy Speaker. However‚ Tehreek-e-Insaf has nominated Shehryar Afridi for the Speaker while Ms. Munazza Hassan for Deputy Speaker.


The newly elected House is expected to elect its new leader on 5th of next month and it is almost final that PML-N chief Muhammad Nawaz Sharif will be elected new Prime Minister which will be his third term in the office.
