Summary PM Raja Pervez Ashraf has cancelled his visit to the US due to political situation in the country.

 

ISLAMABAD: According to PM House Spokesman , Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf had to be in New York to chair the January 21 open debate on ‘UN Peacekeeping: a multidimensional approach’, which would take a comprehensive view of UN peacekeeping however now his visit has been cancelled due to political situation in the country. 


Pakistan took over the presidency of the UN Security Council for January 2013 and will hold special sessions on peacekeeping and counter-terrorism.


As PM Ashraf not visiting US, Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar will address UN Security Council on January 19 in this regard.


She would chair a ministerial level session on January 15 on counter-terrorism.
