Top military leadership has expressed apprehensions over the Kerry-Lugar Bill while Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani said Pak Army had the ability to judge threats to national security interests, Dunya News Reported Wednesday. According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the conditions posed by the Kerry-Lugar bill came under review during Corps Commanders Conference chaired by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani at GHQ in Rawalpindi. ISPR said that some of the clauses in the bill would have negative impact on national security. It was decided in the Corps Commanders Conference that the Bill should be debated in the parliament. It is the Parliament, that represents the will of the people of Pakistan, which would deliberate on the issue, enabling the government to develop a national response, the meeting observed. The government has been informed about the concerns expressed in Corps Commanders Conference, ISPR said. Addressing the conference, Army Chief General Kayani said Pakistan was a sovereign country and had full potential to cope up with the national security challenges.
