Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Noman Bashir said US objections on missile technology up gradation were consequence of misunderstanding and had been cleared. Talking to media after addressing a seminar in Karachi, he told that 90 percent of international trade while 97 percent of countrys trade take place via sea and effective operation against pirates was essential to protect Pakistans trade routes. The naval chief maintained that the government had given the task to participate in the global mission against Somali pirates and the Pakistan Navy was accomplishing it despite limited resources. Replying to a question, he opined, threat of piracy had surged after Mumbai attacks.
