Zardari at 10 Downing for talks with Brown

President Asif Ali Zardari Friday arrived at British Prime Minister Gordon Browns official residence at 10 Downing Street to hold talks on regional security and ways to strengthen bilateral ties. President Zardaris spokesman Farhatullah Babar said Britain had assured more aid for Pakistan. Matters including Malakand operation, war on terror and forthcoming meeting of Friends of Pakistan were discussed during the meeting. Gordon Brown appreciated Pakistans efforts in war on terror saying that Britain values the sacrifices rendered by Pakistanis during war on terror. Both the leaders agreed to maintain strategic ties between the two countries. Brown also assured President Zardari of his role in making European markets accessible for Pakistani products. President Zardari was accompanied by Interior Minister Rehman Malik and his youngest daughter Asifa Zardari Bhutto. Farhatullah Babar told Dunya News that the meeting was successful and Britain had assured provision of more aid to Pakistan.
