PML-N's Ayaz Sadiq elected National Assembly speaker
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) member Ayaz Sadiq was elected speaker of the National Assembly on Friday.
The results of election held on the basis of secret ballot were announced by the oitgoing speaker, Raja Pervez Ashraf.
PPP nominates Sarfaraz Bugti for CM Balochistan slot
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) has named Sarfaraz Bugti as its nominee for the crucial position of Balochistan chief minister just ahead of the eleventh hour.
Asif Ali Zardari, the presidential nominee, has endorsed Bugti for the CM role in Balochistan. The election for the Balochistan chief minister position is scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday).
Ali Amin Gandapur elected KP chief minister
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-backed independent lawmaker Ali Amin Gandapur on Friday was elected by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly as chief minister of the province.
Gandapur secured 90 votes whereas his rival PML-N candidate Ibadullah Khan bagged 16 votes. The election was held through secret ballotting.
ECP approves schedule for presidential election 2024
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has officially unveiled the schedule for the upcoming presidential election in 2024.
According to the outlined timeline, prospective candidates are required to submit their nomination papers by 12 am on March 2, marking the commencement of the electoral process.
36pc new faces reach National Assembly in general polls
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - After this year's general elections, a record 36 percent of new faces have made their entry in the National Assembly.
Out of 265 legislators, there are now 96 new faces who have reached the assembly. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) has the highest number of new faces elected in the general elections as Independents.
NA session to elect speaker, deputy speaker begins on sour note
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The all-important National Assembly session to elect the speaker and deputy speaker through a secret ballot began on a sour note.
No sooner had the session began and Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf read out rules of business than PTI-SIC MNAs Omar Ayub and Barrister Gohar spoke on a point of order and demanded that the speaker send "strangers in the house" out of the assembly.
Leaders of allied parties again seek Fazl's support in NA
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A delegation of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) and Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) again called on Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Thursday.
The meeting was held at the residence of Maulana Fazlur Rehman in Islamabad during which the allied parties’ leaders sought JUI-F chief’s support for prime minister and speaker election in the National Assembly.
