Exact nature of the injury has not been publicly revealed, sources suggest it's a muscular strain
(Web Desk) – Bollywood legend Shah Rukh Khan has suffered an injury while shooting for his upcoming action-thriller King, forcing a pause in the film's production. The 59-year-old actor was filming a high-intensity action scene at Mumbai’s Golden Tobacco Studio when the incident occurred.
Although the exact nature of the injury has not been publicly revealed, sources suggest it's a muscular strain, which is not severe. Khan, accompanied by his team, has traveled to the U.S. for immediate medical care.
“A muscular strain is not a major issue, but Shah Rukh has sustained several muscle injuries over the years,” a close source shared. “Doctors have recommended a month of rest before he returns to the set.”
The injury has led to a disruption in King’s production, which was initially scheduled to continue filming through July and August. The next shooting phase has been delayed until September or October, as producers wait for Khan's recovery. Additionally, bookings for Mumbai’s Film City, Golden Tobacco Studio, and Yash Raj Films (YRF) have been postponed.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, who also helmed Pathaan, King boasts a star-studded cast, including Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Jaideep Ahlawat, Anil Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, and Abhi Verma. Shah Rukh’s daughter, Suhana, is expected to play a key role in this action-packed, emotionally charged film.
While not a direct remake, King is said to be inspired by the 2000 film Bichhoo, which was based on Luc Besson’s Léon: The Professional. In the film, Khan portrays a brooding assassin seeking revenge after a personal tragedy, with Suhana’s character joining him on the mission.
Originally slated to be directed by Sujoy Ghosh, the film saw a change in direction when Siddharth Anand took over. Filming is planned to take place in various locations across India and Europe.
Despite this setback, sources remain positive about the film’s future. “Once Shah Rukh fully recovers, he will return to work with full energy,” they added.
King is one of the most highly anticipated films of the year, especially following the success of Pathaan and Jawan, which reaffirmed Shah Rukh Khan's status as a leading star in Indian cinema.
