The dupatta is considered an essential part of traditional Pakistani dressing. The trend has not changed, but different styles of wearing the dupatta have changed now. Along with the flashy bangles and baskets and khusas on the sidewalk, the desi shopping fiesta is known for the colorful, vivid and floating dupattas, captivating eyes with the thong of women and young girls to color their dupattas, shawls and fabrics in floral colors as per the occasion, event and weather.

While speaking with Dunya News, women visiting ahead of winter said that it was and still is their favourite place for tie and dye of their dupattas, because of its comparatively lower prices and variety of choices.

According to a vendor of dupatta gali, most of the women in Lahore prefere to dye shawls in winter though they try to remain up their business of dying dupattas in colorful patterns and unique styles to make them creatively more attractive. The in colors for dying shawls are green, blue, magenta, maroon and pink.

Lahore’s Dupatta Gali is one of the oldest and, naturally, the most famous markets in the city, the uniquely dyed dupattas of which have earned the market its name.
