MUMBAI (Daily Dunya) - Bollywood actress Preity Zinta expressed grief over the demise of founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s only daughter Dina Wadia, and said that she was fortunate enough to have met her.

Priety Zinta took to social networking site Twitter and posted, “Sorry to hear that the elegant & spirited Dina Wadia is no more. I was fortunate enough to have met her & really admired her.”

Dina Wadia, the grandmother of Priety’s former beau Ness Wadia, passed away at an age of 98 in New York on Thursday.

Dina had married Mumbai-based Parsi businessman Neville Wadia despite her father’s objections and stayed back in India during Partition.

Her mother Rattanbai Petit, who was known as Maryam Jinnah after marriage, died in 1929 of cancer. The daughter-father relationship never deepened after Dina s marriage. It is worth mentioning that Jinnah never issued any legal notice to disown her daughter. She never traveled to Pakistan until her father s funeral in Karachi in September 1948.

In 2004, she was invited to watch a cricket match between India and Pakistan in Lahore. She accepted the offer and supported cricket diplomacy.

Her grandson Ness Wadia and Jehangir Wadia are both renowned Indian businessmen. Ness Wadia is the part of board of directors of several companies and also, owns shares in IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab.
