Summary The singer is notorious for his controversial tweets.
(Web Desk) - Renowned Indian singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya is notorious for his controversial tweets. Last year, an FIR was registered against him on charges of pubic obscenity against a woman. The charges came after Aam Aadmi Party’s leader Preeti Sharma Menon had filed a complaint in India’s Cyber Cell citing Bhattacharya’s use of obscene language towards a woman journalist.
Bhattacharya is back in the news for his offensive behaviour. On Tuesday, Twitter suspended his account after he posted a series of tweets against women, as reported by an Indian news agency. In a tweet directed at JNU student activist, Shehla Rashid, he wrote, “There is rumour she took money for two hours and didn t satisfy the client... Big racket.”
In response to the tweet, his account was reported and has been reportedly suspended by Twitter. After his account was blocked, Shehla Rashid thanked everyone on Twitter and wrote, "Sincere thanks to everyone for the support. Abhijeet had to delete his tweet. His Twitter account has also been suspended."

His Twitter account has also been suspended. :)
According to a report in Indian news outlet PTI, Abhijeet Bhattachariya said that the author Arundhati Roy and her supporters in Jawaharlal Nehru University were behind his account’s suspension and said they were also trying to get Paresh Rawal’s account suspended. Paresh Rawal had earlier said that the Indian Army should tie Arundhati to a jeep for her ‘anti-India stance’.
Some Indian Twitter users also supported Abhijeet in response to his account’s suspension and started a hashtag #IStandWithAbhijeet on the microblogging website.

Furthermore, according to reports, Sonu Nigam announced that he would be quitting twitter due to a lack of respect for freedom of speech. In a series of tweets, screenshots of which are available on social media as the tweets are now not available as the singer has quit the site, Sonu Nigam said that just like Abhijeet’s critics were entitled to their opinion, the singer too had a right to respond.
Abhijeet is famous in Bollywood and had started his career in 1990. He has voiced songs for films in over 18 languages.
