Summary Many senior artists did not attend the ceremony over objections on the way of granting cheques.
LAHORE (Daily Dunya) – Cheques were distributed among the deserving artists in Lahore during a literary meeting in Alhamra.
Provincial Minister for Information Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Executive Director Lahore Arts Council Captain (retd.) Ata Muhammad Khan, Exexutive Director Punjab Arts Council Chaudhry Muhammad Asif and MPA Kanwal Nauman attended the ceremony which was hosted by Sofia Baidar.
However; many senior artists did not attend the ceremony in protest as they greatly disliked the government’s way of granting the cheques.
Khaliq Parvez, Huma Dar, Faqeer Hussain, Habibullah, Sheeba Butt, Rumi Khan, master Muhammad Ameen, Farhat Roohi, Muhammad Sharif, Tasneem Kausar, iqbal Haider, Gulzar Hussain, Mina Lahori, Masood Akhtar, Inayat Abid, Shama Mumtaz, Nusrat Aga, Raja Munawwar Ali, Baqir Hussain, Amanat, Asia Naqvi, Muhammad Iqbal, Mujahid Hussain, Mukhtar Ahmad, Muhammad Anwar Siddiqui, Muneer Raja, Wajahat Atry and others received the cheques.
