Adnan Sami granted Indian citizenship after years of refusal
Sami has been residing in India for more than a decade and has sought citizenship several times
MUMBAI (Dunya News) – Pakistan-born singer Adnan Sami on Thursday has been granted Indian nationality after years of repeated refusal.
The films playback singer was given citizenship today.
The development in Sami’s nationality case has come after Indian Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi paid a surprise visit to Pakistan and met Nawaz Sharif on December 25.
The two premiers held an hour and a half long meeting at Nawaz Sharif’s personal residence in Lahore at Jati Umra.

Sami has been residing in India for more than a decade and has sought citizenship several times. However, the pleas were rejected every single time.
The reason behind the repeated rejection was probably baseless hatred for Pakistanis since India has been choking on anti-Pakistan agenda ever since separation.
Meanwhile, he gave up Pakistan s nationality as prerequisite.
It should be mentioned here that Adnan Sami s father, Arshad Sami Khan was a successful bureaucrat, Pakistan Air Force s (PAF) fighter pilot and diplomat.
However, following Indian Prime Minister’s visit that was welcomed by international leaders including United Nations (UN) Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, relations between the two neighbours are on a move forward.
