LAHORE (Dunya News) — A 12-year-old student died allegedly after being subjected to torture by a religious seminary teacher in Lahore’s Barki area, according to the child’s family.
The family said that Ali Haider, a resident of Bahawalnagar, was studying at a seminary in Lahore when the teacher allegedly subjected him to severe physical punishment for failing to attend a Khatm Sharif gathering.
According to the family, the child remained in critical condition for eight days before succumbing to his injuries. They alleged that his arms and legs were fractured due to the alleged torture.
The family further claimed that when the child was in a critical state, Qari Ghulam Rasool placed him on a bus and informed his father.
The deceased child’s father submitted an application for registration of a case at Barki Police Station, while police shifted the body for post-mortem examination.
Police said a case has been registered against Qari Ghulam Rasool on the complaint of the child’s uncle, and further legal action has been initiated.
