KARACHI (Dunya News) - Fraudsters in Karachi have declared their aged mother dead for the sake of claiming Rs 250 million from an American insurance company. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is conducting raids across the city to arrest the criminals.
According to sources, FIA Human Trafficking Cell had registered a case of fraud on December 1. The woman, Seema Saleem Khar, had two insurance policies from an American insurance company. The scam was uncovered when she applied for a passport and arrived at the US Consulate.
FIA received the complaint from Mr. Scott, Assistant Regional Security, of the US Consulate. A burial receipt and a death certificate were provided, which declared that the woman died due to cardiac arrest.
The woman’s children declared her dead and collected insurance money, following which, the FIA Human Trafficking Cell has started raids to arrest the woman’s son.
