Three killed as Moulana Taqi Usmani, Moulana Shahab's vehicles targeted in Karachi

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Three persons were assassinated in target killings as the vehicles of Moulana Taqi Usmani and Moulana Amir Shahab were attacked on Friday. 

Unidentified persons resorted to firing at two cars in NIPA Chowrangi. Two officials including a policeman were killed. Taqi Usmani, present in one of the cars, remained unharmed.

The initial reports suggested that Moulana Amir Shahab’s car was targeted on Shahrah-e-Faisal near Nursery in the other incident. One person was killed and Moulana Amir Shahab, related to Darul Uloom Korangi, sustained critical wounds.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Gulshan Tahir Noorani, however, claimed that the incident took place only in NIPA Chowrangi where Moulana Taqi Usmani was present with his family in the car.

Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Dr. Ameer Sheikh met Moulana Taqi Usmani at Liaquat National Hospital. He also claimed that the incident occurred only at one place.

On the other hand, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in-charge Raja Umer Khitab said two separate incidents of terrorism happened.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice of the target killings and directed the Additional IG to beef up security in the city.
