Different pulses' prices hiked by Rs 5/kg in Karachi
Annual consumption of lentils in the country is ten to twelve lac tonne, states association
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Lentils and pulses have seen Rs 5 per kilogram (Kg) price hike in whole sale market following the increase in international market, Dunya News reported Thursday.
According to Wholesale Grossers Association, different lentils’ prices have increased by at least USD 20 to USD 60.
Wholesalers said that pea lentil price has increased by Rs 5 per kilogram taking the total to Rs 110, Masur price stands at Rs 130/ kg while mash pulse at Rs 250 per kilogram.
Chairman of the association Anees Majeed said that annual consumption of pulses in the country is ten to twelve lac tonne. However, the production has fallen to half due to floods and unconducive weather.
The association has to rely on imported pulses and this season, he added.
