ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will depart for Jordan tonight to participate in a ministerial meeting on Jerusalem scheduled to be held in Amman on August 5.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, Ishaq Dar is visiting Jordan at the invitation of the country's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi.
The meeting will bring together foreign ministers from Arab League member states and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) contact group, including Pakistan.
The spokesperson said the session aims to formulate a unified response to the rapidly deteriorating situation in occupied Jerusalem.
Foreign ministers attending the meeting are also expected to meet Jordan's King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein.
On the sidelines of the conference, Ishaq Dar will hold bilateral meetings with participating foreign ministers to discuss the situation in Palestine, regional developments, and other matters of mutual interest.
The Foreign Office said Pakistan's participation reflects its principled support for the Palestinian people and its unwavering commitment to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
Pakistan reiterated its longstanding position that an independent and sovereign Palestinian state should be established on the basis of the pre-1967 borders.
