Summary NEOC showcases Disaster Lens 2026 monitoring system
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF), on Tuesday visited the National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) at the headquarters of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), where he was briefed on Pakistan’s disaster preparedness and coordinated response arrangements for the ongoing monsoon season.
During the visit, the NDMA Chairman provided a comprehensive briefing on the operational capabilities of the National Emergencies Operation Centre, highlighting its technology-enabled response mechanisms designed to strengthen disaster management across the country.
A key focus of the presentation was Disaster Lens 2026, an advanced monitoring platform that provides a real-time overview of the prevailing monsoon situation while supporting multi-hazard monitoring across Pakistan. The system is designed to enhance situational awareness, improve coordination among relevant agencies and support timely decision-making during emergencies.

Officials explained how the NEOC integrates technology into national disaster management through continuous monitoring and information-sharing mechanisms. The centre plays a central role in tracking weather developments, assessing risks and coordinating responses during natural disasters, particularly during the monsoon season when heavy rainfall can trigger flooding and other hazards.
The briefing also outlined the authority's coordinated response framework, which enables various federal and provincial institutions to work together during emergencies.
Field Marshal Asim Munir commended the NDMA for its continued efforts to strengthen Pakistan's national disaster management capacity. He appreciated the authority's work in enhancing preparedness through technology-driven systems and coordinated operational planning.
The COAS & CDF stressed the importance of maintaining a high level of readiness, effective inter-agency coordination and a swift response to protect lives and critical infrastructure during the ongoing monsoon season.
He also reaffirmed that the Armed Forces of Pakistan remain fully prepared to support the civil administration and the NDMA whenever required. The military, he said, stands ready to assist in relief, rescue and rehabilitation operations to ensure an effective response to any emergency arising from the current monsoon spell.
