AJK chief election commissioner appeals for maximum voter turnout

AJK Chief Election Commissioner says polling is proceeding peacefully in Mirpur Division, urging voters to ignore rumours and exercise their democratic right to vote.

MIRPUR (Dunya News) – Chief Election Commissioner of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Justice (retd) Ghulam Mustafa Mughal, said polling in Mirpur Division began at 8:00am as scheduled and that the voting process has so far remained peaceful.

Speaking to the media, the chief election commissioner urged the people of Mirpur Division to come out and exercise their right to vote, saying their participation would play a vital role in the formation of the next government.

He said elections provide citizens with the opportunity to choose their representatives, urging voters not to compromise on the value of their vote and to participate in the electoral process in large numbers.

Justice (retd) Mughal said effective security arrangements had been put in place to ensure the safe movement of voters to polling stations and the peaceful conduct of the elections.

He also appealed to the public to ignore rumours and cast their votes within the prescribed polling hours, stressing that voting is every citizen's legal and democratic right as well as an important national responsibility.
