(Web Desk) - A pet parakeet in the US state of South Carolina has secured a place in the Guinness World Records after being recognized as the world's oldest living parakeet.
The bird, named Spodles, was officially recorded at 32 years and 86 days old, far exceeding the typical lifespan of captive parakeets, which generally ranges between 15 and 20 years.
Its owner, Amanda Beath, said her mother gave her the bird as a gift in 1997, when Spodles was about three years old.
Amanda joked that she often says the bird "just refuses to die," adding that she simply keeps feeding and caring for it.
Although Spodles is not as talkative as it once was, Amanda said the beloved pet still starts each morning by saying, "Pretty bird," a habit that continues to reflect its charming personality.
