US President Donald Trump has said that the United States will “work closely with Iran” following what he described as a “productive regime change,” while firmly ruling out any uranium enrichment under future arrangements. In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that there will be no enrichment of uranium and claimed that the US, in coordination with Iran, will remove deeply buried nuclear material created after B-2 bomber strikes, adding that the sites have been under strict satellite surveillance and remain untouched since the attack. He also revealed that talks are ongoing with Iran regarding tariff reductions and sanctions relief, indicating a broader diplomatic engagement. Trump further noted that significant progress has already been made, with many points from a 15-point US proposal agreed upon, suggesting movement toward a potential agreement between the two sides.

Vance warns iran against violating fragile truce

US Vice President JD Vance has warned Iran against dishonesty or attempts to undermine the fragile ceasefire, stating that the United States retains strong military, diplomatic, and significant economic leverage under President Donald Trump’s leadership. Speaking on the situation, Vance emphasized that if Iran chooses to “lie or cheat” or tries to disrupt the truce, it would face serious consequences, adding that such actions would leave Tehran “not going to be happy,” according to AFP.

US Claims Decisive Military Victory

US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth claimed that Washington has achieved a decisive military victory over Iran, stating that Tehran’s missile programme has been “functionally destroyed,” according to Reuters.

Global Leaders Push for Diplomatic End

Leaders from France, Italy, Germany, Britain, Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands, Spain, and the European Union welcomed the ceasefire and urged a “swift and lasting end” to the conflict.

“The goal must now be to negotiate a swift and lasting end to the war within the coming days. This can only be achieved through diplomatic means,” a joint statement read.

Ceasefire Remains Fragile as US Forces Stay Ready

A top US general, Dan Caine, emphasized that American forces remain on standby despite the ceasefire.

“Let us be clear, a ceasefire is a pause, and the joint force remains ready if ordered,” he said.

Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth added that the US is prepared to ensure Iran adheres to the agreed terms.

Strait of Hormuz Opening Under Consideration

A senior Iranian official revealed that Iran may reopen the Strait of Hormuz in a limited and controlled manner ahead of expected talks with US officials in Pakistan.

The official stated that all ships would need to coordinate with the Iranian military, highlighting the sensitive and controlled nature of the move.

“Iran prefers lasting peace, but has no fear of returning to war if necessary,” the official added.
