Zaman Khan shines as Lahore Qalandars bag first PSL 9 win

Lahore Qalandars set 163-run target for Islamabad United to win PSL 9 encounter

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – A magical bowling spell by Zaman Khan powered Lahore Qalandars to their maiden PSL 9 victory as they defeated Islamabad United by 17 runs at the Pindi Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

Chasing the target of 163-runs, Islamabad United were bundled out for 145 in 18.5 overs as Zaman Khan claimed four-wicket haul.

Shadab-led side’s opening was unimpressive as Alex Hales went for duck while Colin Munro was dismissed for 15 runs.

When United suffered back to back losses, Faheem Ashraf and Azam Khan tried to put scores on the board with their 41 and 27 runs innings.

But their removal, once again turned the fame in favour of Qalandars, who sealed their first win in the ongoing domestic event.

Earlier, Qaladars were put to bat first by United after Shahdab Khan won the toss. Shaheen Shah Afridi’s side had set 163-run target for Islamabad United.

Qalandars’ Rassie van der Dussen remained the top scorer with 64 runs while captain Shaheen Shah Afridi also contributed with the bat by scoring quick 30 runs. United bowler Raees took two wickets.

The defending champions, Lahore, had put up the worst show in the current season as they failed to win a single match of the seven they have played so far. The only point to their credit was due to an abandoned match due to rain.

Islamabad have won three of their seven matches and at fourth spot on points table. Lahore have better record against Islamabad as they have won four of their encounters in the PSL. Islamabad, however, broke the winning streak of Lahore as they defeated them in the inaugural match of the current season.
