Presiding Officer's decision to be challenged in Islamabad High Court: Bilawal Bhutto
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that all the senators of the opposition voted for Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani and announced that they would challenge the Presiding Officer’s decision in the Islamabad High Court in hope for justice.
Bilawal said this during a dinner held at Zardari House, Islamabad on Saturday. Leading party leaders, senators and lawyers attended the dinner and Bilawal Bhutto spoke on the election of Chairman Senate.
According to sources, Bilawal Bhutto rejected the notion that some opposition senators had deliberately gotten their vote rejected, adding that he had full confidence in all the senators of the opposition.
Continuing, he said that according to the instructions of Secretary Senate, the senators were told to affix the stamp anywhere in the candidate’s box. All opposition senators voted for Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, he added.
Bilawal said that all the opposition parties, including PPP, PML-N, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) and Awami National Party (ANP) are united on the platform of PDM. He said that the decision of the presiding officer will soon be challenged in the Islamabad High Court in hope for justice.
“We have made great inroads against the selected Imran Khan government in the parliament and confidence in his government has been lost”, he said.
Bilawal Bhutto said that in order to continue PDM’s success, it was imperative that the opposition members do not to resign. The issue of whether or not to resign from parliament is important and will be decided from the platform of PDM.
