PTI inherited weak economy, difficult to currently stabilize rupee: Hafeez Shaikh.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh Friday said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) inherited weak economy, and it is difficult to stabilize the Pakistani rupee at the moment.

Abdul Hafeez Shaikh addressed a seminar in Karachi and told that the country is facing a debt of $97 billion.

He maintained that the incumbent government is taking steps to strengthen and stable the economy by its better policies. The previous government did not pay attention towards trade promotion and increase in exports, he said.

“Pakistan is facing internal and external challenges and the PTI-led government is focusing on reducing expenses. The budget focused exports instead of imports and subsidies are being provided for this cause.

“All out efforts are being made to achieve the target of 5500 billion rupees in revenue collection. Everyone has to pay the tax and government has ended the concept of non-filer in the budget of 2019-20.”
