Hafeez Shaikh, Reza Baqir meet PM Imran, brief him on budget proposals
The prime minister directed the team to facilitate the lower class in the budget
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Reza Baqir on Sunday called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad.
The meeting was attended by Advisor on Finance Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Advisor on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood, Minister of State for Revenue Hammad Azhar, Governor State Bank of Pakistan Dr Reza Baqir, Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Shabbar Rizvi and other officials.
During the meeting, the economic team briefed the prime minister about the budget proposals. The team also apprised Imran Khan about taxes and targets in the federal budget 2019-20.
Speaking on the occasion, the prime minister directed the team to facilitate the lower class in the budget, adding that the budget should be people-friendly keeping in view economic stability.
Federal budget for the next fiscal year will be presented in the National Assembly on Tuesday.
Prime Minister s Advisor on Finance Dr. Hafeez Shaikh will present the budget emphasizing on austerity, fiscal discipline, external sector management and protection of the poor.
In this connection, President Dr Arif Alvi has summoned the session of National Assembly to meet at Parliament House in Islamabad tomorrow at four in the afternoon.
