Facts of case against Senator Gillani not presented properly: ECP

Pakistan Peoples Party leader Yousuf Raza Gillani will remain Senator

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) pronounced the reserved verdict on the petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) against Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders, Dunya News reported on Friday.

The ECP had reserved its decision on April 5 on the petitions filed by PTI leaders Farrukh Habib, Malika Bukhari, Kanwal Shauzab and Alia Hamza.

Announcing the verdict, the Chief Election Commissioner said that there was no direct evidence against Yousuf Raza Gilani.

The Chief Election Commissioner stated that the facts about this case were not presented properly.

Therefore Pakistan Peoples Party leader Yousuf Raza Gillani will remain Senator, the Election Commission declared.

The verdict also directed the District Election Commissioner to take action against Ali Haider Gilani, Fahim Khan and Captain Jamil on the grounds of corrupt practices.

Whereas the Election Commission has also ordered to register a case against Ali Haider Gillani on the grounds corrupt practices.
