Federal cabinet strongly condemns attack on Chinese Consulate

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Friday said that terrorist attack on Chinese Consulate in Karachi is part of a big conspiracy to sabotage Pakistan’s friendly relations with China, but the enemies would not succeed in their nefarious designs.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Friday after federal cabinet meeting, he said that no one can harm close strategic relations between Pakistan and China through such conspiracies, adding that it is not an isolated incident, but part of a big conspiracy as some countries are wary of close ties between Beijing and Islamabad.

The minister said that the federal cabinet strongly condemned the attack on Chinese consulate and reiterated that no external power can sabotage Pakistan’s relations with China.

Chaudhry went on to say that the federal cabinet has formally approved opening of Kartarpura corridor to facilitate Sikh community of India.

He said Prime Minister Imran Khan will perform opening of Kartarpur border corridor on Wednesday, adding that Kartarpur is a sacred place for Sikh community living across the globe.

The minister said that visa free entry will be provided to Sikh pilgrims from India and a mechanism in this regard is being finalized.

He said local and international journalists will also be invited to witness the programme.

Chaudhry said: “Opening of Kartarpur corridor is a peace initiative of Pakistan to normalize relations with India, adding that Islamabad wants normalization of ties with New Delhi to defeat poverty and this endeavor will be pursued with utmost sincerity.”
