A live wire of high voltage fell in murky water, stagnant after heavy rains showers

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Local fruit vendor was reported electrocuted on Wednesday in Nain Sukh Market of Ferozwala while his aide injured after 11-kV live wire broke and fell in rainwater that was yet to be drained.

Karamat was selling fruit as per his routine when a live wire of high voltage fell in murky water, stagnant after heavy intermittent rain showers in the past two days.

His aide sustained wounds and was shifted to government hospital for treatment. Family of the victim and locals protested against administration’s slackness in draining the rainwater after downpours.

Saggian and Wandala roads were blocked as the protesters placed body of the victim outside the market, on main road as part of demonstration.

This is the third incident of its kind when stagnant water in the streets and roads have claimed lives through electrocution.
Earlier last month three persons of a family were electrocuted in 11 Dayal Shah area of Ferozwala.

It was the second such incident in July in Lahore after a wire snapped in Hamza Town claiming lives of a woman and motorcyclist.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had taken notice of the accident and summoned reports from authorities concerned.
