Firing between two groups leaves four dead, three injured in Karachi's Golimar

The police sources told that the suspects have managed to flee the scene.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – At least four people were killed while three others sustained injuries in an exchange of firing between two groups of drug dealers in Karachi’s Golimar today (Saturday).

According to initial details, unidentified armed men opened firing in Golimar, killing two people on the spot while injuring five others. The wounded victims were shifted to the hospital in critical condition where two out of five succumbed to the injuries, taking death toll to four.

The security personnel cordoned off the entire area and set drug cartel ablaze.



Police sources told that as many as 12 suspects have been apprehended until now in search operation.

Earlier today, at least four militants were gunned down by the paramilitary troops in Khaiabad area near Northern bypass of Sindh’s metropolitan.

Karachi, a sprawling city of roughly 20 million, has long had a reputation for high crime rates as well as ethnic, political and sectarian violence.

Situation has gradually improved in the metropolis since the military launched a crackdown two years ago on armed gangs and suspected militants in Karachi. Howoever, law enforcement personnel often come under attack by militants and criminals.

On Friday, at least three Rangers personnel embraced martyrdom in gun attack outside a mosque in Ittehad Town.

Spokesperson for Rangers said that operations by law enforcers have decimated crime networks in the city. The paramilitary force has given a helpline (1101) to file complaints about extortionists.

Victimized people may also approach the law enforcement agency via text messages. Rangers have ensured to keep names of complainants secret.
