India violated ceasefire 997 times since 2013: Defense Ministry

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Defense Ministry on Tuesday has stated that India violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) and the Working Boundary at least 997 times since 2013.
Defense Minister gave out the figures in his written reply in Senate session today chaired by Raza Rabbani.
The ministry stated that as many as 36 Pakistanis including army soldiers have embraced martyrdom while at least 211 were injured. On the other hand, at least 89 percent North Waziristan while 87 percent areas of Khyber Agency have been cleared in Operation Zarb-e-Azb.
The federal minister said that India violated ceasefire in 2013 at least 464 times. The Indian unprovoked firing claimed lives of 24 security troops and 74 citizens in 315 incidents in 2014.

The written reply stated that at least 89 percent areas of North Waziristan have been cleared by the Pakistan Army. The minister said that the operation would continue until elimination of terrorists and banned outfits’ financiers.
On October 30, Pakistani High Commissioner (HC) Abdul Basit said that India resorted to aggression on Working Boundary and LOC at least 400 times. He denounced practice of leveling accusations and not working upon 2003 agreement.
He reiterated that Pakistan wants stability and end to aggression from neighbouring state.
On September 18, Pakistan lodged strong protest with Indian Deputy High Commissioner over civilian causalities in unprovoked ceasefire violations by India at the LoC.
The Indian Deputy High Commissioner, Mr. JP Singh was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by Dr. Mohammad Faisal, DG (SA & SAARC) to protest against the killing of three civilians in Nakial sector due to the unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian Border Security Forces (BSF).
