Indian police detain Pakistani woman in Jalandhar
Chanda was arrested from Jalandhar railway station for allegedly travelling without a passport.
(Web Desk) – Indian Railway Police detained a Pakistani woman in Jalandhar for allegedly travelling without a ticket and other relevant documents, the Indian media reported.
As per details, 27-year-old Chanda, a resident of Karachi, boarded the Samjhauta Express from Lahore and arrived in Attari on Thursday. She was arrested in Jalandhar when Indian authorities found that she was allegedly travelling without passport and other travel documents.
During questioning, she claimed that her maternal uncle Rashid Khan was also accompanying her and at Attari he had alighted to have water but then train left and he could not return.
She said that her passport and ticket were with her uncle. However DSP said that there was no trace of her uncle till Friday noon.
Chanda told police that she wanted to visit a Dargah in Agra for a Mannat as she did not have any child.
After initial questioning by the railway police and local intelligence officials, she has been sent to the immigration office in Amritsar for further interrogation.
On the other hand, Pakistan s Foreign Office has reported that Indian authorities did not inform Pakistan regarding her arrest.
At the moment, the ministry is gathering details of incident.
