PTI gears up to demonstrate power show at Minar-e-Pakistan
Aijaz Chaudhry of PTI said Pakistan would witness biggest-ever public gathering in the country.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is all set to demonstrate show of power at Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore on Sunday.
The preparations for PTI’s rally at Minar-e-Pakistan are at its peak as people have started to gather at the venue to stage a protest rally against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s government.
A big stage has been set up while seating and lighting arrangements have also been completed. Thousands of Imran’s followers have assembled at Minar-e-Pakistan while many still continue to join in. Apart from men, the crowd includes women and children amassed in large numbers.
A heavy contingent of policemen has been deployed for security concerns. The youth wing of PTI has taken charge of security on the venue by arriving at the venue earlier this morning. Moreover, metal detectors have been installed at the entrances to ensure security. The Azadi interchange remained crowded by the people throughout the night and a heavy contingent of police has been deployed to monitor them.
The rally in-charge for PTI said that the government and police despite giving permission for the rally are creating hurdles by blocking roads with containers. However, the PTI leadership has claimed that no barriers can hold back the party supporters and activists from participating in the rally.
The PTI leaders reviewed the security measures at the venue earlier in the morning. According to PTI Punjab President Aijaz Chaudhry, Pakistan would witness the biggest-ever public gathering in the country, making it a historic day. He said that he himself would welcome and receive the participants at the venue.
Imran Khan claimed that it would become clear today at his Minar-e-Pakistan public meeting, whether Lahore belonged to the PTI or Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. In one of his tweets earlier this morning, Imran Khan said:
Today will be a historic Azadi dharna in Lahore. People have given their verdict in favour of Naya Pakistan. Change has arrived..

PTI Lahore also held a procession from the Liberty roundabout to Minar-e-Pakistan in order to set the rally in motion. A large number of PTI supporters including women, children, office-bearers and party members continued chanting slogans “Go Nawaz Go”.
