Australian board offers big bucks to the star players so they can avoid injuries

(Web Desk) – Cricket Australia has offered multi-year contracts to their star players in order to keep them away from the big-budget Indian Premier League (IPL), according to Sydney Morning Herald.

The report by Australian daily claims skipper Steve Smith, vice-captain David Warner and fast bowlers Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood have been offered hefty three-year contracts to make them miss the IPL next season.

It also said that Cricket Australia’s Executive GM of team performance Pat Howard proposed the ‘ideal deal’ keeping in view the pay dispute between governing body and Australian Cricketers’ Association.

The real aim of the new deal is to rest these players when they are not playing any format. The three-year contract will make Australian cricketers miss IPL for next three years and rest on their off days. It will also help Australian cricketers avoid unwanted injuries

Steve Smith and David Warner are currently captaining their respective sides Rising Pune Supergiants and Sunrisers Hyderabad in this year’s IPL.
