Nayan charged an advance amount of Rs. 1.5 lakh for offering information on the nature of pitches

WEB DESK – After police in Kanpur arrested three bookies in betting rackets, a former cricketer Nayan Shah who played for Maharashtra U-19, has also been apprehended in connection to scandal.

Sources revealed that Nayan charged an advance amount of Rs. 1.5 lakh for offering information on the nature of pitches as it has also reported that several pictures of the Wankhede pitch were found in Nayan’s phone.

Police also revealed that he had contact from big bookies for the entire IPL series.

The reports also revealed Nayan Shah had hired Ramesh Kumar, who was employed at Green Park, and gave Rs 5,000 to him for watering the pitch and to put excess water on the pitch in order to make it slow. Ramesh Kumar, who is now in custody, would then send photos of the pitch to Nayan and has already received Rs 20,000 for the job. He is in custody.

Meanwhile, the BCCI had also released a statement on this issue: “The anti-corruption unit of the BCCI has been tracking activities of certain individuals, as a result of which, three suspects were arrested in Kanpur, on Thursday. The Uttar Pradesh police crime branch could successfully foil the alleged betting attempts of the accused. This was an outcome of the ACU of the BCCI, having worked closely with various law enforcement agencies, who will continue further investigations, in this matter,” the BCCI statement read.
