PSL: Zalmi bag another comfortable win, beat United by 7 wickets

Peshawar Zalmi's in full form, glide effortlessly to victory thanks to batting skills of Tamim Iqbal

(Web Desk) - Peshawar Zalmi have managed to bag another comfortable win as they beat Islamabad United by 7 wickets. Tamim Iqbal was the star of the match, remaining not out up until the end of match and scoring an incredible 80 runs on just 58 balls. Tamim was seen thrashing the ball over the place, with 3 impressive sixes to his name. 

Islamabad United on Friday started off well against Peshawar Zalmi with a stable start provided by Shane Watson and Sharjeel Khan. Watson scored 19 runs off 20 balls while Sharjeel bagged 28 off the 22 balls that he played. Islamabad looked good but Peshawar got the important breakthroughs that they needed after that stable opening partnership. Islamabad United scored a handsome total of 152/6. The game intially poised nicely for an exciting contest, but with Zalmis in masterly form, they managed to make it look all to simple and in  the end, glided effortlessly towards victory at the loss of only 3 wickets all thanks to the bowling efforts of Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Asghar coupled with the skillful batting technique of Tamim Iqbal.

Overs 18.3: Yusuf nudges it to the side and just like that Zalmi bag another comfortable win!

Overs 14.4: SIX! Shahid Yousuf has timed it brilliantly for a six. It was flat. The fielder in the deep tried to grab it, jumping full length but failed to get his hand to it. Islamabad now racing towards the target. They are 119 for 3.

This game is still quite evenly poised.

Overs 12.5: FOUR! and that 100 up for the Zalmi. It was a beautiful delivery but was edged by Shahid Yousuf for four. 

Overs 11.6: OUT! And Ajmal gets his revenge. Akmal was coming down the wicket, exposing his stumps. Ajmal followed him and by the time Akmal could read it, the ball had spun further back in, leaving him guessing in the middle of the wicket as Brad Haddin removed the bails. Zalmi are now 93 for 3.

Overs 11.5: SIX! Kamran Akmal sends Ajmal out of the park. That s six.

Overs 8.1: OUT! Allenby is gone. Sami takes a good catch in the deep. Zalmi are 63 for 2.

Overs 7.5: SIX! And that s another one. This time it s straight over Ajmal s head. The result is the same though.

Overs 7.4: SIX! Tamim Iqbal sends Saeed Ajmal over the Long Off boundary for a massive six. 

Overs 6.4: FIFTY up for Peshawar Zalmi. They have batted well. Hafeez s wicket pulled down the run rate down a bit but a solid start.

Overs 4.3: OUT! Huge wicket for Zalmi. Hafeez was batting brilliantly and now he is gone. This could very well be the opening that Zalmi needed.

Overs 3.6: FOUR! Hafeez is doing it beautifully. Peshawar are 34 for no loss.

Overs 0.6: SIX! Hafeez has pulled that one out of the park. It was a short delivery and asked for this treatment. Hafeez obliged.

Islamabad must not have enjoyed the last 2 overs of the innings.

Overs 20: Islamabad have set a target of 153 runs for Peshawar Zalmi. It was a great set up for the United but they couldn t capitalize on it and could only score 8 runs off the last 2 overs. Peshawar Zalmi will come out to bat shortly.

Overs 19.1: OUT! And that s another one. Zalmi have pulled this one back brilliantly in the last two overs. United are still 146 and have lost their 6th wicket as well.

Overs 18.4: OUT! Khalid Latif is gone. It s been a brilliant over by Wahab Riaz in the death overs. Khalid Latif was looking so good before this over but could get 2 runs off the first 3 balls of this over and got out on the fourth. United are now 146 for 5.

Overs 17.4: SIX! That shocks Asghar. Khalid Latif has hit that flat and out of the ground. That s FIFTY for Khalid Latif as well. Great knock!

Overs 17.3: OUT! Russell gone now as Sammy takes a simple catch in the deep. Asghar was the lucky bowler. Islamabad are now 1.5 for 4/

Overs 16.4: OUT! Misbah is gone. Afridi takes a simple catch in covers and the big threat for the Zalmis has gone back to the pavilion.

Overs 16.2: SIX! Wahab Riaz at the receiving end this time. Massive six by Khalid Latif.

Overs 13.1: SIX! That s sweetly timed by Misbah and clears the boundary behind the bowler s back.

Overs 13.4: SIX! Typical Misbah hit. It was a quicker one, Misbah got down to his knee and sends that over the mid-wicket boundary for six.

Overs 9.6: OUT! Sharjeel is gone. He has edged that Tait delivery straight into Shahid Afridi s hands standing in the covers. And Afridi doesn t miss many. Islamabad are 73 for 2 after 10 overs.

Overs 8.5: SIX! Khalid Latif joins the party. He has hit that one out of the park this time. Islamabad United are 67 for 1 now.

Overs 7.3: SIX! And again! Sharjeel has taken Lala on. That has hit the roof.

Overs 7.2: SIX! Sharjeel Khan bangs it over the fielders  heads for six. Afridi at the receiving end.

Overs 6: Islamabad United are 36 for 1. This has been a very good bowling performance by the Zalmis in the opening 6 overs of the game. The first power-play is over and United are still playing at run-a-ball.

Overs 4.3: OUT! Shane Watson is gone. It was a tempting delivery that pitched on the middle stump and turned vigrously to knock over the stump. Islamabad are 27 for 1.

Overs 3: Islamabad United are 16 for no loss. The Peshawar bowlers have kept Watson and Sharjeel quiet so far.
