Honeypreet Singh arrested after 36 days in hiding
She was arrested today after she was interviewed on multiple television channels
(Web Desk) – Adopted daughter of arrested Indian guru Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh who was at large for 36 days was held on Tuesday (October 3rd) after a brief motorway chase by Punchkula police.
Honetpreet Singh who was booked for sedition and inciting violence in the aftermath of Singh’s rape conviction had gone into hiding ever since.
She was arrested today after she was interviewed on multiple television channels.
Reportedly, she was traveling on the motorway with another woman when police indulged in a chase which turned out to be brief as she was arrested.
Indian media have reported that she is to be presented before a court on October 4th (Wednesday).
Over 30 lives were lost and hundreds wounded in clashes that ensued between police and locals in as many as four states after Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was convicted by a court of raping two of his woman followers in 2000s.
