India: UP CM bans jeans, T-shirts in government offices
Anyone wearing casual outfit will be marked absent with salary deduction, according to the new order
(Web Desk) - The newly appointed Chief Minister of Indian State UP, Mahant Yogi Adityanath, has put a restriction on government employees by which they cannot wear jeans or T-shirts in the working hours.
Earlier, the Uttar Pradesh CM had put a ban on chewing ‘gutka’ and paan masala in schools, colleges and government offices. He has given strict directions to the administration on closing all those shops that sell such items within the vicinity of the educational institutes and state offices.
A government representative Surendra Singh told, "No more wearing of T-shirts and jeans. We have ordered all government employees to attend office only in formal dress code.”
Other orders by the government include restriction of formal dress code only, speedy work at offices and noting the date and time of the disposal of work. Singh said that the government would not bear any misconduct under the given new rules.
The CM himself visited government offices and angrily warned the workers wearing casual dress. He said, “Anyone coming without wearing formals will be marked absent and salary deduction will be deducted.”
The male and female employees can only wear pant-shirt and saree-shalwar respectively, otherwise they will not be allowed to sit in the offices. Adityanath has also issued new order for schools where he placed a ban on using mobile phones and wearing informal dress in school timings.
