The 26-foot statue is made of quartzite and could be up to 3,000 years old.
(Web Desk) - Joint German-Egyptian research teams have unearthed a massive 3000-year-old statue of ancient Egyptian pharaoh.
The likeness of what may be Pharaoh Ramses II was found submerged in groundwater in a Cairo slum.
The team was working at what was once Heliopolis, one of the oldest cities in ancient Egypt.

The discovery was hailed by the Antiquities Ministry as one of the most important ever.
The Minister of antiquities, Khalid Al Anani said the statues would be displayed in the Grand Egyptian Museum once it is confirmed.
