Flaming paan: The new unique mouth freshener in India

The fire looks dangerous but it gives a cool sensation once it is inside the mouth.

RAJKOT (Web Desk/AP) - Tasting a ‘paan’ on flames might sound bizarre but people in Rajkot are trying it out for real.

Chunni Lal, a betel leaf seller for the past last 30 years took 8 years to devise this fiery recipe that many are trying out. It is a mix of local herbs such as cloves, betel nuts, cardamom among other ingredients, which are wrapped in a betel leaf.

The fire paan product on the other hand is really rather unique and has resulted in the 48-year-old businessman becoming a popular figure in the town.

The fire looks dangerous but it gives a cool sensation once it is inside the mouth.

Chunni Lal saidas quoted by the Daily Mail:  We sell more than 25 types of paan, which includes chocolate, mint and many other flavours.”

“Due to the competition in the market and for a new flavour for customers we invented fire paan.”

“Initially the customers were hesitant for this but now it has become the USP of our shop.”
