China's Shi wins gold medal in 69kg weightlifting event
Turkey's Daniyar Ismayilov gave a tough time to Shi but got silver medal at the end
RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug 10, 2016 (AFP) - Shi Zhiyong grabbed gold in the men s 69kg on Tuesday to propel China above Thailand at the top of the weightlifting medals table.
The 22-year-old lifted a combined total of 352kg, just 1kg ahead of silver medallist Daniyar Ismayilov of Turkey.
Shi hauled 162kg in the snatch and 190 in the clean and jerk to secure China s second weightlifting gold medal of the day and third of the Rio Games.
Deng Wei had earlier won Olympic gold in the women s 63kg.
Izzat Artykov claimed bronze to clinch Kyrgyzstan s first ever Olympic weightlifting medal with a combined total of 339kg.
